FYP: Level 1 Research

Hey guys,

I am going to Design level 1 for my game but before I start I want to look into other games which are similar to mine and see what makes them so good.

I looked at ‘Rayman Run’ which had a really cool level layout. They would have 10 levels focusing on just one mechanic such as jump, punch etc. Introducing the mechanic at the begging until the player has mastered it at level 10.

I really like that way of design as it is making the player perfect a mechanic and allows the designers to create interest with just one mechanic.

I then looked at ‘Wind-up Knight’ which doesn’t use 10 level for a mechanic but 1 per level. In the next level it combines the mechanics the player has learnt.

Again it is a good way of doing it and I will most likely do it that way due to time constraints. The next game I am going to study will be ‘Buddy and me’ as I want to see how and when they introduce buddy.
